In the semi-final of ponte del diavolo championship 2019
the opponent player did not play a single move on three games
and played only one move and no more on another three.
He might pretend to abandon all the games or make decrease of rating least.
Anyway point is that he is playing his other games normally.
What he did is disrespect for ponte del diavolo and all the boardgames.
Such a player is not appropriate to join the championship again. |

But you are just guessing for the underlying reasons, right?
Maybe the player just wants to postpone this semi-final a bit to give it the attention it deserves, as the player is a bit busy these days. |

Then he did postpone too long, because these games already ran out of time.
Ofcourse it still is guessing why he did play in other games) but not in these.
I had the same some time ago (only not after 1 or 2 moves). In a final, after it was clear he would loose at least 6 of the 8 games, my opponent did not resign, but let the games run out of time. |

It is true that there are some players who have bad manners.
So there needs to be moderators to remedy them.
I hope that more and more people will play fair games
and this site will be applaudable. |

Reminds me a bit of a remark Bent Larsen (Danish chess grandmaster) made as a reply to an apology from his opponent for beeďng (very) late at the board:
"No problem at all: it's your time!"
When someone even chooses to loose on time, well, "thanks for that: it's your point!"
He might have had exceptionally deep reasons for acting that way, but let's not bother about that and just collect the free win (with a grin ..). |

I am on this site to play, not to collect free wins, so it wil not be with a grin |

Got a player now who is gonna loose 3 out of 4.
All he needs to do is 1 move.
He is online all the time and played regulairy till this point.
Now he is making me and the rest of the tournament wait for 4 days already.
Asked him politely why, no answer.
All I can think of is that he is higher ranked than me and didnt expect to loose and feels the need to punish me for that.
Pretty sad behaviour, but within the rules I suppose so I ll grind my theeth for another 2 days and hope he doesnt go on holidays. |
